Siracusa: the Greek theatre

2018 May 25

In May begins the general rehearsal for the summer, from Versilia to Ibiza it is the month of re-awakenings. We have chosen for you secret but also very well-known places to explore during the first weekends of good weather, still far from the summer crowd.

WEEKENDS

May is the prelude of the summer. Garden markets, flower festivals: after that of Noto the last weekend, the next is that of the bridge of June 2, in the Umbrian village of Spello.

But above all this is the month that includes the first weekends at the beach.

From Versilia to Ibiza, it's time for the «re-opening»: on the island of the Balearics the Lio opens its summer season, the cult place where a dinner-show conceived by Ricardo's arquitecto de la noche goes on stage Urgell, the inventor of Pacha. It's time for the first brunches on the beach (the most beautiful is at Cala Nova, at Atzaro Beach) or outdoor dinners: La Paloma, in the countryside of Sant Llorenç, sets the tables in the gardens, lit by candle light amongst the jasmine. Even the other queen island of summer, Mikonos, starts with the aperitifs at the beach from Nammos (above), the Cycladic beach club: according to regulars this is the perfect month to discover the secret Mykonos and to drink Cosmopolitans at all 'Astra Bar.

In Monaco the engines of the summer heat up: it is the weekend of the F1 Grand Prix, the official debut of the high season in Monaco, which now focuses on the green. Do not miss a lunch at the soles "Les Perles des Monte-Carlo" opened by two biologists: it is rustic and very small, perfect for those who love seafood. The awakening in Italy is cultural: from Venice to Sicily, even for us the agenda is full of appointments. In the lagoon there is the Biennale of Architecture, with exhibitions and events for charity and in Rome, at Villa Borghese, the horse show in Piazza di Siena returns.

Those who choose Sicily find a very rich program at the Greek Theatre in Syracuse.
